As the actualization of Primary Health Care Under One Roof (PHCUOR) is being anticipated to take off soon in Kogi State, the State Primary Health Care Development Agency is putting in place all artillery to ensure a very smooth take off.
The KGSPHCDA engaged the services of a renowned Consultant in Primary HealthCare Activities – Global Promoters for Community Initiative (GPCI) – to prepare the Operational Guidelines for PHCUOR as obtained in other States of the Federation. This document is expected to serve as a torch for all key players in the PHCUOR policy.
The GPCI lead – Mr Ola Kalejaiye presented the prepared document to the Executive Director KGSPHCDA- Dr Abubakar Yakubu, other Management Staff and some Programme Officers on Wednesday 15th July, 2020 at the Agency’s Conference Hall. The presentation according to Mr Ola was to show the Management how much work had been done so that together, they can dot the ‘I’s and cross the ‘T’s before a final document can be produced to the World.
The ED KGSPHCDA – Dr Abubakar Yakubu while appreciating the Committee for the assignment headed by the DPRS of the Agency – Mr Olusanmi Sola – said he was happy with the work done and within stipulated time. He commended the contributors and critics of the document because it has produced good result.
The ED however added that there is no time to rest now stating categorically that as soon as the Operational Guidelines is finalized, preparation for the Minimum Service Package (MSP) for Primary Health Care workers would commence immediately. Therefore the Committee for the Operational Guidelines would not be disbanded as they would continue with the task of producing the MSP package document.
“I sincerely appreciate the DPRS and his committee members, the Consultant and all who have contributed meaningfully to the production of the Operational Guidelines for PHCUOR in Kogi State. Even those who criticized the document because their constructive criticism helped to align ideas and standardize the document to meet National stipulations and as well customize it to the peculiarities of our dear Kogi State. No doubt, your collective efforts have produced good result which we can be proud of. I immensely thank you all”.
Dr Abubakar Yakubu
