In less than 24 hours of getting the news, Management, Programme Officers and Staff of the Agency stormed the Agency’s Board room in honour of our own ED/CEO – Dr Abubakar Yakubu who was conferred with an award of “Service Ambassador” and Certificate of Integrity Stewardship by Centre for Save and Serve humanity Organization, Abuja, Nigeria.
Presenting an overview of the Organization’s vision and mission, Mr Garba Abubakar Oyibo stated that the Centre was known for Ethical standard and Assessment of performances in Education, Health Policy, Youth empowerment and inclusion, Infrastructural development, leadership and governance among others.
The Centre’s choice of award to Dr Yakubu was solely on merit and considered following “his Administrative Discipline, Ethical Operational Leadership, Developmental Policy performance, unrivaled commitment, public accessibility and outstanding Leadership of team members”.
Speaking further, the Executive Director of the Centre – Mrs Anthonia Aihinoria commended the State “for rapid social and economic development through the transformation implementation agenda of the State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello.” She added that Health system needs to be applauded especially for the primary Health Care Infrastructure development and service delivery. It is for this reason “we are here addressing a man who stood beyond all odds and distinguished himself among his colleagues; a silent achiever, an icon of peace, a generational change maker, a man whose track of indelible achievement has made us proud as an Organization. … we admire your courage over timidity, watching you with keen interest and emulating your good steps…”
“Furthermore, from our confidential independent assessment exercise conducted on State MDAs North-Central of Nigeria, Kogi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, under the stewardship of the Executive Director – Dr Abubakar Yakubu- came out very outstanding in the course of the exercise.”
It was based on these facts-over-fiction that the Centre deemed it wise and logical to proclaim and induct Dr Yakubu , haven scored 95% cumulatively in the aforementioned sectors of assessment and decorated “An outstanding Leader in Service”. All attendees at the ceremony in unison gave a standing ovation and applause to the quintessential CEO of Kogi SPHCDA.
Responding, Dr Yakubu admitted to being ‘shy’ not sure of the accolades showered on him as deserving. He said his primary objective is to carry out his assignments as a duty. We act and people judge us hence the need to strive to do right at all times.
Dr Yakubu expressed sincere delight at the gesture and accepted the award which he said will certainly spur him and the Agency to greater work. He assures the citizenry that he will not relent in the good work set out to do. The Agency’s CEO advised everyone under the sound of his voice ’to induce good work in others’. He also appreciated the Organization for choosing quality leadership as landmark for assessment.
Dr Yakubu added his voice against the wanton destruction of lives, incessant kidnapping and banditry ravaging our society, saying that this is definitely not the desires of our forefathers for the nation. He prayed for the departed souls lost to ills of the times and seized the opportunity to appeal to everyone ‘to go back home and address our wards in an attempt to curb family disfunctionality and youth restiveness which partly gives rise to moral decadence and break in the rule of law and order in the society.’ He thanked the organization immensely for considering him for such an award, his Management team and Staff for their ‘solid’ support which today results in recognition.
