AFENET Nigeria sent a 3 man Data team to the Kogi State Primary Health Care Development Agency on SMS reporting evaluation. The team was received by the Director PRS – Mr Olusanmi Sola along with other Program and State Officials on Monday 17th August, 2020.

Thereafter, the Team Lead from Abuja –Mr Edwin Simple – highlighted their mission to the State. He said SMS reporting of Immunization activities in the State is rated between 60-70% and needed to be improved upon. Part of their assignment has been scheduled to visit 2 high performing LGAs amongst which are Ogori Magongo and Ofu. Also 2 low performing LGAs will be visited among which are Olamaboro and Lokoja. The visit and interaction with health workers and Health Facility SMS Focal Persons will avail the team first-hand information and challenges faced with reporting activities and seek to proffer possible solutions to improve on the rating and assessment of the State. Going with the team on the LGA visit are the Agency SMS Focal Person – Mall Yahaya Abubakar and Technical Assistant to the Agency from NPHCDA – Mr Adolphus Okoro.
High point of the meeting was the presentation of a brand new laptop to the Agency/SMS Focal Person to aid data storage and timeliness of reporting.
The DPRS welcomed the team and appreciated the efforts of NPHCDA in collaboration with Development Partners in ensuring that Routine Immunization is given utmost attention and that activities are reported adequately. The need for improvement is the basis for the evaluation so that grey areas of challenge can be tackled.
Special thanks were offered to AFENET for the provision of a laptop adding that more is still expected from them as the Agency is in need of all the support it can get from Partners.
He assured the team that the Agency will give every necessary support during the visit and prayed for their safety as they embark on the field visits.
