Fractional Inactivated Polio Virus (FIPV) Immunization campaign has kicked off in Kogi State with 12 LGAs of Kogi Central and Western Senatorial Districts. The campaign had already been conducted earlier for Kogi Eastern Senatorial District covering 9 LGAs. The activity is a Routine Immunization intensification campaign aimed at protecting children of 3 – 59 months against childhood killer diseases such as Polio, Measles and Yellow fever.
At a time when Nigeria is being certified Wild Polio Virus Free, every effort must be put in to ensure that the Wild PolioVirus free status is sustained.
The FIPV activity kicked off today Saturday 22nd August, 2020 and will run till Thursday 27th August, 2020.
Dr Abubakar Yakubu – Executive Director Kogi State Primary Health Care Development Agency immensely appreciates Development Partners such as World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), and African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET) who have relentlessly supported the State in various capacities for campaigns and vaccination activities and expressed inmost desire to have more partners in the State to further support and boost primary health care activities.
He charged Health Educators both at the State and local levels, State Technical Facilitators, Monitors, House – to – House mobilisers, Community Engagement Focal persons, Civil Society Organizations, Routine Immunization Officers and everyone concerned with Primary health Care to do the very best possible until every eligible child is reached and immunized.
The ED prayed for the safety of everyone on the field that God will reward the services rendered for the benefit of humanity to safeguard the future of our children and the nation.
