The just concluded training of Enumerators and Supervisors for Baseline Health Facility (HF) Assessment towards Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) was immediately followed by posting of participants to the 21 LGAs of the State for the assignment.
The task seemed herculean, given the season but the commitment and dedication of the team was unparalleled. Enumerators under the rains, flooded roads, bad terrains and hard-to-reach areas were determined to get to the designated HFs to be assessed. Some had to cross swamps by foot and by boat while others dared the security compromised areas, all to get the work done.
The Executive Director KGSPHCDA – Dr Abubakar Yakubu who was overwhelmed by the show and level of commitment to the assignment was ceaseless in prayers for the safety of all sent to the field and highly commended their efforts with sincere gratitude.
The ED who began his supervision from his home ward – Otutu Ward in Okene LGA was extremely happy to have aided the movement of the HF in his ward, to a new and befitting structure funded by World Bank for the community.
Dr Abubakar was given a hero’s welcome and could not be appreciated enough for his support to PHC activities in his ward and the LGA. In fact, the Onoba (Ward Head) of Otutu ward, Ida’re community – Atahiru O. Suleiman prayed for him to excel beyond his father in fulfilling promises.
The Executive Secretary Kogi Health Insurance Agency – Dr Aledare Adekunle, Chief Medical Director, Hospitals Management Board – Dr Zakari Alhaji Usman and a host of other high level State Officers collaborated with the Primary health Care Development Agency and went to the field for supervision.
“To achieve best results, you need collaborative efforts of all stakeholders to Primary Health Care and that is why the decision and selection of participants is all inclusive. I have no doubt in the capability of my Staff and indeed everyone who have sacrificed a lot for this assignment to deliver. I appreciate their commitment and commend their efforts, together we will do more in the delivery of Primary Health care to the people of our State.
With this assessment done, the State is closer to completing the requirements for accessing the BHCPF for PHCs.”
